The eagle is the most majestic of all birds mentioned in scriptures as well.  The Bible has many animals mentioned but when the eagle is mentioned, it is always to portray majesty and strength.
 
What about this bird that is portrayed to give us an idea of God?
 
Deuteronomy 32:11-12
“...like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.  The LORD alone led him;  no foreign god was with him.”
 
STRANGE ARE THE WAYS OF GOD
“like an eagle that stirs up its nest” - that is very strange.   Why would the eagle do that?  Why would it stirs up its nest when its young is still in it?  Would it not frightened them? 
 
Sometimes the ways of God appear strange.  In fact it even appeared to be unkind when trying to help his people.  Why would God lead them to the desert - where there is little food, little water and sure not as uncomfortable as the cool mountains of Bukit Mertajam?
 
We take comfort that we know because with each trial God showed his mighty hands - the opening of the Red Sea, the turning of bitter water to honey drink at Marah, the flying in of quails for food, the dropping of manna from heaven.  They were all birthed out of trials.  As we venture in our Christian walk - there may be unpleasant things that go on - but be assured that God is a mighty God even though it may appear strange.
 
Let us have faith that our trials will always have a purpose - that we grow in faith with God.  God is like this eagle - once in a while, he stirs the nests.
 
SHARP ARE THE EYES OF GOD
“and hovers over its young”
However, the eagle when stirring its nest, she stays close to her babies as well. When the prophet Hannani spoke to King Asa, he said, “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)
 
The vision in the eagle is amazing; almost incredible.  They would fly mid air circling round and round and suddenly, noticed a prey and plunged with great speed and pounce down upon it.  If it involves its own kid and there is a hunter, it would also do the same and save her kid and place it back in the nest.
STRONG ARE THE ARMS OF GOD
“that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinion”
Think about the hands of God as wings of an eagle.  Have you ever seen an eagle fly.  Does it flutter its wings like the sparrow?  No, with a strong push, it glides in the air with majesty.
 
Those are the strong arms of God.  There is nothing our Lord could not do.
 
The young birds could never understand the motives of their mother.  Inexperienced, they would interpret her behavior as thoughtless, irresponsible, unkind.  Job might have asked in times of troubles, “Why did God allow this to happen to me?”  Perhaps you might ask the same thing too.  Our Lord knows how to protect his children.
 
In John 17:12,  Jesus prays for us, “While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.”
 
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
 
This speaks of God’s wonderful provision.  It is true when the psalmist says that in his old age now, he had not seen any of God’s children begging for bread.
 
The next time you think of an eagle flying above your head, think of the Lord who is
