Scripture: Joel 2:28-32
INTRODUCTION
- During these days it has been so boiling. What have all of us been longing for? RAIN!
- How do you want it to come?
【Joel 2:28-32】
A. A DAY CALLED PENTECOST – He Poured His Spirit on all people
- Let us hear the words of Joel more;
And it will come to pass
I will pour out….
They shall all prophesy…….
1. The Initial Outpouring
That day was marked by what we call – that special Pentecost Sunday today. The first Pentecost when there was an outburst of the Holy Spirit in our world today in Acts 2.
2. The Immeasurable Outpouring
Then with the definiteness of time is the widespread outpouring. That was indeed the word used – OUTPOURING.
It is immeasurable, it is an outpouring. It is not a trickle.
- Joel 2:23
“Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before.”
The Bible says it is to everyone: from the youngest to the oldest, men or women, without distinction of gender, class, educational level, wealth, race, ALL.
【Numbers 11:24-29】
Moses said that he wished that the Spirit of God would be on all of them – all of God’s people were to be prophets.
3. The Implication and the Impact
Joel 2:28 shows that God intends to make a way for believers to relate to the holy God, personally, without a mediator.
We know God and we have the word of God. We all become mediators between God and men.
B. A DAY CALLED TODAY – His Presence with Us in troubled times
- I called this outpouring day today as well. Acts 2 was the initial experience for all future experiences.
- My point is this – we are here today for a purpose – to make his presence known. God makes his presence known by His Spirit through His people. Amen!
C. A DAY CALLED SALVATION – All who called shall be saved
- The last thing I want to say is found in verse 32 – “that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved!”
- That day is called the day of salvation.
- What are we saved from?
- Judgment will come – we know that – but we are spared from judgment when we call upon the Lord.
CONCLUSION
- Is this your day?
- Would you open your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved?
- Is this your day?
- Would you give your life to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to be the vehicle of the word of God – the mediator between God and man as well?
- Let us open our lives to the Holy Spirit.
