Speaker : Rev. Daniel
Romans 7: 13-25
Introduction
The Christian life is difficult. Agree or disagree?
A. A Restlessness in us (13-20)
Another question: “Did that which is good, then, become death to me?”
Verse 14
“We know that the law is spiritual: but I am an unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate, I do”
From explanation to experience: This is the struggle
It is life before Christ:
Verse 14 = sold as a slave to sin
Verse 17 = sin living in me
Verse 20 = sin living in me
It answers the basic question: Can good works save me?
B. A Resistance in us (21-23).
“So I find this law (principle) at work – when I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in the law of God, but I see another principle at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind…..”
Is there not a good nature with me? Yes but there is always a resistance.
C. A Redemption needed for us. (24-25).
“Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord!”
It is not about trying to become better, it is about being delivered.
Conclusion
- Come out of that restlessness to rejoicing in Christ. Come and find new life and a new living in Christ.
- Christians, don’t fall and not get up. We still need the deliverance of the Lord every day to enable us to walk victoriously in Him.
