Is there a relationship between faith and obedience?
Faith is what God does and faith in God is doing what God has revealed to us.

A. THE OFFERING OF FAITH
1. The Faith Offering
Gen 4:6 “Why are you angry? all kinds of standards If you had done the right thing, would you not be accepted?”
What was the right thing?
4 things that were right shown to Adam and Eve by action:
1. To stand before God, he needed a covering.
2. What man made was worthless.
3. God Himself must provide the requisite covering.
4. This could only be obtained by death, by blood-shedding.
The sacrifice of Abel shows faith in God
1. Man was a guilty sinner, and that death was his just due.
2. God was holy, and must punish sin.
AS codes
3. God was merciful, and provided a substitute
4. The substitute is the sacrifice of a lamb - Christ the Lamb.
2. The Faulty offering
In Gen. 4:3 “Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.” Cain did it his way.
“One way is as good as the other” - a lie from the devil.
B. THE CONVICTION OF THINGS UNSEEN
- I am Declared Righteous
- I Demonstrate righteousness in Obedience
C. THE OUTFLOW OF FAITH
“By faith he still speaks, even though he is dead.”
CONCLUSION
Martha Thatcher in “The Freedom of Obedience”:
"Whenever I take the opportunity to actively love God in personal obedience, I end up sensing a new tenderness in my heart toward Him and a stronger resolve to obey again next time. Obedience is not an end, but a means-a means to express our love to God, and a means to increase our love for God. It is a catalyst in the process of loving God and becoming more like Jesus."
“When I lived a life of obedience, I have never fail to experience the peace of God in my life.”
